Custom painted signs have arrived in my Etsy shop this week! This past weekend debuted 5 custom painted signs by me at the 18th Century Market Fair at Locust Grove in Louisville, Kentucky. Here are four of the signs I made for the event...
I also made custom signs for the 5th Annual Jane Austen Festival, which was also held at Locust Grove. The employees of Locust Grove loved my signs from that event that they hired me to make these signs :)
Also, please stay tuned to the blog...I will be posting information about my "12 Days of Sales" (starts November 11th and continues till Cyber Monday) in the next couple of days. There will be some great deals on ALL my Etsy shop items!!

New 2013 Calendars...Great Holiday Gifts!!
This and the following calendar can be found in my Etsy shop. Here is the description for the above calendar:
2013 COLOR Calendar featuring 12 of my fine art photography prints (some new, some old, and many MariaRoseCollection shop favorites). This calendar is comprised of 12- 5x7 calendar prints (photo sizes 5x5). Each is printed on archival luster photo paper, which is fingerprint-resistant and brings out the vibrant colors in each photograph. All images are copyrighted to Alana Gillett, Maria Rose: A Prime Collection. NOTE: Images above are all low resolution for security. Your calendar will be comprised of all high resolution images and text.
This calendar can be displayed in a frame, on a small easel, on your fridge, or a cork board at work, home, or school. After each month is past, you can cut off the calendar portion, if desired, and save the photograph for a mini collection of my work. Great gift for this upcoming holiday season!
The same description applies to the next calendar, OCEAN...
The best part of both of these calendars is that you will have a collection of my 5x5 photographs to display in your home as the year progresses!
Falling Leaves
Yesterday, my son and I spent some time outside enjoying the warm weather and beautiful Fall colors. It was incredible to stand under our tall oak trees and have leaves fall on and around us. I loved it!! Fall is my favorite season :)

Getting ready for my Fall photo walk...
It's about that time for my annual Fall photo walk in my neighborhood. There are so many lovely Fall colored trees that are almost at their peak here. I want to wait just a little bit longer to let the beautiful range of colors expand. So, I decided to stick with capturing the beauty in my backyard today. Here are my favorites...
Also, I've seen pumpkins popping up on doorsteps around my neighborhood, so I took a few photos of my son's mini pumpkin. We're gearing up for his preschool class trip to the Pumpkin Patch.
And, taking photos outside is never complete without one of my cats meowing at the door for freedom to scamper about in the leaves...

Week Catch Up
So, it's been a busy and exciting week! I've had some great feedback on my pointe shoes photographs, which I'm hopefully going to get prints made soon. I also received the most amazing comment about my "Reflected" photograph on my Society6 page: "This belongs in a museum of modern art, where it would surely never fail to draw a crowd of admirers. It's fabulous!" This comment made me SO happy and made my day :)
The second exciting thing from this week is that I am now an INTERNATIONAL artist! I shipped off my "Who Me?" photograph to a customer in AUSTRALIA :) Love it!!
Today, I went out to take some photos of the fall colors in my backyard and discovered a lovely thistle plant growing in a pot on our deck.
As I was photographing it, my cat, Maria, started meowing at me from the screen door. She was looking at me with those sweet "puppy dog eyes" and I had to take her photo. Our screen is broken, so I was able to get a clearer shot. She eventually figured out how to get through the screen and jumped out the door :) She's a stinker!

My Sister's Pointe Shoes
While reorganizing things at our home, I
discovered a box with my sister's old pointe shoes. I never made it
that far in ballet and I wish I had tried. However, I don't think I
would have been very good with my big feet :)
I love watching and learning about ballet. It is such a beautiful expression of strength, athleticism, and passion, but it comes with a physical cost. I hope you enjoy my portrayal of the darker side of pointe...
