Orange Roses

I have an obsession with roses.  It's partially due to the fact that my family on both sides were extraordinary gardeners and always had some type of rose growing in their gardens.  I love their scent, their diversity (colors, species, sizes, etc.), and their progression from enclosed buds to layers of petals streaming out of their fragrant center.

My husband bought me orange roses for my birthday last week (he's so wonderful!), and the week before I had bought some orange roses to decorate our house for our guests.  I don't know why orange seems to be my favorite color of rose lately, because I typically prefer red.  However, I have fallen in love with orange roses!  I took way too many photos of both bouquets of roses and I have attempted to narrow down my favorites.  I have some others posted on my Facebook page as well under "Spring Delights."  Thanks for looking!

Weeping Cherry Blossoms

I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the blossoms on our Weeping Cherry tree that is in our front yard.  A few days ago it started to blossom a little bit, but not enough to get the type of photos I wanted.  We had a warm day on Sunday, which encouraged the buds to start blooming.  Then, yesterday, we had crazy thunderstorms and high winds.  In a moment of peace, I was able to capture some beautiful images of our Weeping Cherry blossoms and buds, literally, weeping.

Light

I love using natural light when taking photographs.  I am very happy when the sun is shining and I can go outdoors to shoot.  Though, lately, the weather hasn't been very cooperative, so I've had to rely on my flash.  I received a new flash for my birthday, which has been fun to experiment with.  I love the capabilities of bounce flash (but, I still like natural light more :D).  Here are a few of my latest photos featuring "light."

 

For the cat lovers...

Most of these photos are for sale in my Etsy shop.  We've had some sunny but chilly days in Louisville lately, so I've been indoors taking photos.  My cats and flowers have been my primary subjects.  I'll post some flower photos soon!  Thanks for looking!

I finally have photos available up on Etsy! I have been featured in several treasuries, which has been a pure delight to see my work alongside very talented Etsians.  I'm still learning so much about promoting my work and the different avenues for that.  More info. on that to come!  Plus more photos :)
