I'm so thrilled to be featured in both places and so thankful for ALL my supportive teams on Etsy!!!

Project Regency Runway...

I had the opportunity to present at the Jane Austen Society of North America- Greater Louisville Region's March meeting this past Sunday.  Here's what my presentation was about:

"Come join the Jane Austen Society for Project Regency Runway: Create Your Own Regency Fashion Plate and Portrait on March 17th. You will start off by learning how to sketch your own Regency Fashion Plate to inspire your outfit to wear to the 6th Annual Jane Austen Festival (July 20 & 21).

This will include a discussion about the Regency figure where we will study the human form in full-length portraiture, how to draw proportional human sketches, and what undergarments will help you achieve the Regency look. After our discussion, it will be time to “Make It Work.” Those who wish to draw their own Regency Fashion Plate (either by tracing or free-hand) will be provided various drawing and painting materials (materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own). Historical fashion plates, photographs, and live models (dressing in Regency attire, if you have it, is encouraged) of Regency Fashion will be available for inspiration.

Those who want to get started on picking out the right patterns, who are mystified by Regency sewing instructions, or who are currently working on a Regency costume can seek help from our “Sewing Masters.” Patterns, fabric recommendations, sewing materials, and work tables will be available. Participation in the “Make It Work” portion of the session is voluntary. All skill levels (beginners to fashion designers) and lovers of Regency fashion are encouraged and welcomed to attend."

It was a lovely meeting, despite the snowy weather which kept some people from attending.  I truly enjoy teaching art and sharing my love of Regency Fashion.  I'm very grateful to the Jane Austen Society for letting me speak!

I'm looking forward to helping many ladies achieve their Regency looks for the 6th Annual Jane Austen Festival on July 20th and 21st this year.  I don't know if I've shared this before, but I sew Regency clothes and other costumes.  We're hoping to break the Guinness Book of World Records record of people dressed in Regency attire on Saturday, the 20th.  I'm hoping my presentation inspired some of the attendees to start working on their Regency clothes :)

I'm going to be busy sewing, painting ("Miss Elizabeth Bennet" is on my painting list!), making commercials, and working on the play (I'm writing the play based on Pride & Prejudice that will be performed both days at the Festival) over the next few months.  If you are interested in the Jane Austen Festival, please visit our website, jasnalouisville.com, for more information.

Here's our wonderful poster (done by the talented Albert Roberts) for this year:
