Custom Photo Enlargement

Two weeks ago, I had an Etsy buyer approach me about making one of my photographs a custom enlarged size.  At that point, the largest I had ever enlarged one of my photographs was 16 inches x 20 inches.  The customer was requesting the size of 56 inches x 33 inches!!  I was worried that my photograph would be too pixelated at that size, but, thanks to some Internet research and Photoshop tutorials, I was able to enlarge my photograph and increase the image quality.

Then, I had to find a new photo lab to print the custom size.  I landed on www.colorenlargement.com, since they could do the custom size on Metallic paper.  I HIGHLY recommend them!  Very easy to order, fast turnaround, and quick, reasonable shipping.  And the print is absolutely STUNNING!!  I received it today (I have to confess...I practically ran out to greet my mailman as he was bringing it up the drive) and I can't wait to ship it off to my customer.  I'm hoping they love it as much as I do :)  Oh...my husband put his stamp of approval on it :)  He even said, "Why haven't you been offering this (larger prints) before?"  Well, now I can :)  Any print in my Etsy shop and any size you'd like.

Here's a size comparison with the custom print at the bottom:

Jane Austen Festival Commercials

I was asked to make the 15 and 30 second commercials for the Greater Louisville Region of the Jane Austen Society of North America's "5th Annual Jane Austen Festival."  I have been involved with this group 3 years now and have served on the Festival committee and volunteered at the past two Festivals.  It is a wonderful two-day event held at Historic Locust Grove in Louisville, Kentucky.  For anyone who loves Jane Austen and/or the Regency Period, please come check us out...we have people from all over the country who travel to this event.  This year's Festival is July 21st and 22nd.  For more information, go to jasnalouisville.com or feel free to leave a comment and I'll get back to you!

15th and 16th week of 366 Project

Sorry, I haven't updated the blog in a while...I have been busy with making Regency-style dresses, editing/creating commercials for this year's Jane Austen Festival, and potty training my little man.  Plus taking a photo each day!  Here's catch up for weeks 15 and 16...

Then, I started a new photo themed project.  Here's my background story about it: My three-and-a-half year old son is obsessed with the alphabet and letter sounds. After my few years of teaching Pre-K/Kindergarten and many years of collecting as a kid, I have at least one stuffed animal that represents each letter of the alphabet. He LOVES his collection of stuffed animals! So, I've decided that for the next 26 days I'm going to create a photo alphabet book of his stuffed "buddies" :)

That's the end of week 15, but I have one extra image to share that was a behind the scenes look at the "C is for Cat" shoot...

My real cats get very jealous when I take pictures of other things besides them and ALWAYS have to get in the way when I'm shooting...they're annoying but they make me laugh!

And now to week 16's images...
One outtake...can you spot what's different?

So far, my little man is loving this alphabet book!!  I'm looking forward to completing it and making it into an actual book.  Well, I better get off of here and go photograph "Q" :)  I'll have week 17 up soon!

13th Week of 366 Project...BOGO sale in progress!

Spring has sprung!  My family and I have enjoyed many days outside enjoying the weather and beautiful blooms of the new season.  This week was special, since March 29th marked my 30th birthday.  I spent a lovely late morning at the zoo with my son, watched "Bride & Prejudice" while he napped, Skyped with my Mom, had a home-grilled meal made by my husband, and enjoyed my new beautiful hyacinth plant.  Hoping my 30th year is a good one...it has started off quite nice!

To celebrate my 30th birthday, I have a BOGO sale on all my fine art photography prints going on in my Etsy shop till the end of April.  I had a customer take advantage of it last night!  Two of my newer prints will be headed off to a new home very soon!  Come take a look...
